Since we spent Saturday night at the Gatwick Hilton in preparation for our Sunday morning flight to Genoa, we had to go to Sunday evening Mass in Genoa. As it turned out, the nearest church was S. Lorenzo Cathedral where we actually got to see our first ordination. The above picture isn't very good, but it's the only one I felt comfortable taking. Three deacons and a priest were ordained. Interestingly, the priest's words, "lo vogio" (I want), are the same as the vows of a bride and groom in Italy or the English equivalent of "I do."
I noticed the forced perspective on the above window.
Two lions flank the stairs of the cathedral. At one time, Genoa was under Venetian rule and maybe that's the reason for the lions.
