On our to-do list was to pay a visit to Alberta, the glove lady. We had seen her in the shop on another evening, so I knew she was still able to tend her shop. However, on the night we decided to actually shop for gloves another woman was minding the store. As it turns out, it was Alberta's daughter. Here she is fitting me for a pair of gloves to go with my new Max Mara coat.
We were conversing in Italian...more precisely, she was conversing in Italian and was very patient with whatever language I was speaking. I was able to learn that generally her mother was doing well. Since I had my iPhone with me, I pulled up the blog for her to see. She was tickled that I had written about her mom. While we were in the store that night, her mom called the shop and her daughter told her about these customers had returned to buy more gloves and that they had even written a blog. Well, that made everyone's day, including mine. Her daughter took our picture on her phone to show her mother when she got home. A few days later, I noticed Alberta was back in the shop. I stopped by to buy one more pair of gloves for Sarah and to tell Alberta that I was the lady who had visited with her daughter a few days earlier. I was so happy to find Alberta in good health. She's now 87 and young as ever!
