This is the story of how we climbed a mountain. The path up is highlighted in yellow. Frankly, we thought we were ready to head down when we had reached Point A, but, no, we had to walk along the mountain top to Point B before we began our descent. This blog only covers to Point B.
Here I am with our map, posing naively at sea level, literally.
We took hundreds of pictures because the hike up took somewhere between 2 and 3 hours. There are two things you should watch for relative to the camera level. The first is the ridge line of the trees at the top of the mountains.
The second is the big mountain on the right as it drops off into the sea.
We think we're pretty high here. Fooled you and us! Note: we're still in town!
Here's a view of the mountain I referred to above. We have not only gone up in altitude, but we have also made our way inland.
What's telling here is not the sign's text but the two up arrows and the exclamation point!
We're still pretty low. Part of the mountain top is obscured in fog. Below is a picture that I took, but most of the pictures were snapped by Bill.
This is how they harvest olives.

Here we are approaching the restaurant the Italian farmer mentioned to me. We (foolishly) think we have crested the mountain.
At this point, we were in serious need of refreshment. We each had an Aperol spritz made with Prosecco--the best we ever have had (possibly because we thought we had climbed a mountain)!
That, down there, is the big mountain! It's a long way off, we're way up high, and we've hiked a heck of a long way!
"You are here." We were there!
