Edinburgh: Palace of Holyroodhouse

The Palace is the Queen's official residence in Scotland, unlike Balmoral, also in Scotland, which is her privately owned residence.  While the Castle is located at the top of the Royal Mile, the Palace is located at the bottom of it.  One of the more notable residents was Mary, Queen of Scots.  We were not allowed to take pictures inside, but we did take a tour of the gardens.  Here are some of my favorite pictures (in no particular order).

 

The ruins of an abbey are located directly behind the Palace.

 

 



 

Below is a picture of Holyrood Park with the cliffs of Salibury Crags.  There will be a blog devoted solely to the Crags.

This is the bench where the Queen sits some mornings to have her breakfast.  It's directly across from the blue delphiniums above.  Some mornings it's good to be Queen.
