On the evening we arrived Mary Anne and Ross treated us to drinks on their boat named the QA3 (Queen Anne 3) after Mary Anne's mother and my mom's good friend, Anne. It is docked at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. Afterwards, we had a delicious dinner at the club. Several days later, when pleasant weather returned to the area, Ross took us out for a ride in the QA3. More of that later. This blog is devoted to the QA3.
The boat had many shiny things.
And personalized cups for Rum & Cokes!
And lots of dials.
And flags. Ross is an active member of the Coast Guard Foundation and proudly flies its banner.
And technical stuff. This instrument allows the captain to see the sea floor.
There are chairs.
And a salon. This is where we had drinks the first night.
And a galley.
And look, here's Captain Ross!
And beautiful woodwork.
And fun staircases.
I wish my dad could have taken a ride on the QA3. He would have loved its superb craftsmanship.
(By the way, Mary Anne referred to this as a boat, but the fine appointments and sea worthiness of this Hatteras 48 say yacht to me. Boats are what we have in Arkansas and somehow I just don't envision Bubba fishing for big-mouthed bass from this vessel.)
