Viterbo: sky profiles

With the possible exception of the caverns created by American skyscrapers, we rarely see mere slivers of sky created by the buildings that pierce them. Here are my favorite pictures of the sky in Viterbo.

Viterbo: buildings

Unlike Rome, the streets of Viterbo and Bracciano smelled of toasty fires burning in fireplaces. I can only imagine what the living rooms looked like, but on the outside the buildings were made of stone, often times mismatched. It makes for a very pleasant street scape.  Here are some of my favorite pictures of the buildings.

Viterbo: as promised, miscellany

After walking around a bit, we got hungry.  Bill prefers to avoid restaurants with over-inflated prices and under-occupied tables. Soon, however, he found a restaurant that suited both his criteria of reasonableness in cost and enjoyment by the locals. As it turns out, La Spaghetteria has also been in the Guinness Book of World Records.

You see, when they bring you a menu...

they bring you a book.

This menu/book contains exactly 39 pages of spaghetti preparations for a total of 312 versions. While they did not have Puttanesca on the menu, they'll fix it (or anything else you can imagine)! There are other items on the menu, as well, but since Bill and I didn't read all 312 spaghetti options, I really can't tell you what followed!

I had the spaghetti Norcia with anchovies (no surprise there), olive oil, garlic and truffle. 

Also, on our walk, we passed this car. I think it's very cute.

On the way to the train station we passed a tree with lovely bark.
